The Fleur De B series explores how a classic symbol like a flower can evolve into a contemporary expression.
Strolling through the vast flower fields outside Amsterdam on a windy day, I was captivated by the ever-shifting layers of blooms. Some flowers stood tall, reaching for the sky, while others nestled low, hidden beneath their vibrant neighbors — only visible when a shift in perspective revealed them. This natural rhythm of layered heights, a dance of color, light, and shadow, became the soul of my inspiration.
My three-dimensional floral artworks embody that experience. On custom-built canvases, hand-crafted paper flowers rise and recede, suspended on thousands of pins. Each placement mirrors the organic movement of flowers swaying in the breeze, celebrating nature’s imperfect elegance. Layers of paint and texture enhance the depth, inviting viewers to get lost in the interplay of light and shadow.
Through these compositions, I strive to capture more than the memory of the Dutch flower fields. I aim to evoke the wonder of wandering among them — a space where beauty blooms in layers, and hidden blossoms reveal themselves with the slightest shift in perspective.
